Wild Life of Gus

The place to read about my adventures, discoveries and thoughts on wildlife. I hope you enjoy my posts and do feel free to ask me things! Find me on Twitter or Instagram. Also, my old blog still exists here, I ran out of space for media.

About

I’m a 20 year old naturalist currently making my way towards a career in something nature-related, but I haven’t worked out what just yet… Perhaps rangering, perhaps consultancy, we’ll see…

I’m currently studying BSc Countryside Management at the Aberdeen campus of Scotland’s Rural College, but make plenty time for getting out in the natural world and looking at what’s going on in the countryside. Last year I was working in Kinross at Loch Leven National Nature Reserve on a one year placement with Scottish Natural Heritage (everything here is my own opinion), living in Dollar.

Other than studying I get out volunteering fairly regularly at various sites, I’m taking part in the Patchwork Challenge (see here), I’m the regional representative for A Focus On Nature in Scotland, I do the occasional bit of ecological surveying where I can fit it in between coursework, and I make regular excursions to places I deem worthy of having a poke about at!

My main interests at the moment are birds, botany,  and ecological restoration but whether it’s birds, flowers, bugs, fungi, mosses, lichens, mammals or entire ecosystems, I’m interested and I hope to share some of my growing knowledge, thoughts and experiences with my readers.
